Profile of Roma Vincent, Jewellery Designer
In year 2000 I moved to Cumbria, after studying the traditional skills of silver jewellery making at Sutton College of Liberal Arts – Surrey, West Dean College - Chichester, and a Foundation year at Reigate College of Art and Design.
Then, following a short stint as a blacksmiths assistant, I started to produce sculptural metal pieces and to explore other media and disciplines; liberated by the magic and breadth of my new surroundings.
‘My-Morph’ is the collective name I have given to a group of alloys devised through my extensive experimentation with combinations of non precious metals. The unorthodox heating process I employ subtly alters the crystalline structure of the metals to release their metallic colour array of pinks, purples, blues, bronze and gold; adding vibrant colour and texture to metal in an entirely different way.
Whilst Jewellery is my signature style, I still have a need to create larger work, as exampled by some of the images illuminating the pages of this website.
